REFLECTION
Museal — a short, one-directional installation built around an observer reversal. It shows you something; it does not classify or describe you.

This register is binding. What is not written here, the experience does not do. It is versioned, and its changes are listed in full below rather than replaced quietly.

  1. 1

    Name & status

Olivia: Exhibit 01. Register version 1.2, issued 2026-09-04, release candidate. Reflection type: museal — a short, one-directional installation built around an observer reversal.

  2. 2

    What this claims to be

A finite editorial installation: a nine-second film, a held pause, a reversal, three rooms of evidence — multiplicity, construction and a specimen record — and a debrief, in that fixed order.

It is not a test of you, not a classifier, not a live model and not a conversation. Nothing in it is generated in response to you, and it does not examine or classify your identity, psychology or state of mind.

  3. 3

    What it asks of you

Nothing. There is no question, no declaration, no acceptance step and no gate of any kind.

The only control is conventional media control on the two films: play, pause, continue and replay. Neither film begins without an explicit press. Using the controls or ignoring them changes nothing except whether a film is running.

  4. 4

    What is measured

The exhibit measures nothing about your identity or state of mind. The publication measures how the work itself is used.

Its funnel records seven points grounded in states the exhibit itself commits to: arrival at the exhibit, activation, activation settled, completion of the held observation, construction started, construction completed, and the stabilised end state. Where the experience itself exposes progress, fixed progress milestones are recorded rather than a continuous trace. Replay controls, fixed failure or degradation categories, and opening the evidence/register path can also be counted.

Active attention and certain stage timings are measured so that they can be reduced to fixed ranges in the durable aggregates. Temporary visit-level events are deleted within twenty-six hours.

Nothing records where your cursor moved, what part of the image you looked at, your eye movements, your keystrokes, or a continuous scroll trace.

  5. 5

    What is inferred

Nothing is inferred about you. No identity, trait, emotional state, psychological category, opinion or state of mind is derived about a visitor.

What is derived concerns the exhibit: how many arrivals reached particular stages, where the funnel lost visits, how often the available replay controls were used, how often fixed failure states occurred, and how often the evidence path was opened. Those are observations about the performance of the work, not conclusions about the person using it.

  6. 6

What is stored, where, and for how long

The exhibit writes no visitor identity to localStorage, sessionStorage, cookies, IndexedDB or Cache Storage, and it registers no service worker for measurement.

A random same-visit identifier is created in the tab's memory and accompanies measurement events so that events from one visit can be aggregated correctly. It is not a persistent browser identifier and cannot recognise a later visit. Visit-level measurement, including that temporary identifier, is retained for no more than twenty-six hours. It is then deleted.

What remains is aggregate counts and distributions with no visit identifier. The analytics database is configured for EU jurisdiction. Behavioural measurement deliberately stores neither a reader IP nor an IP hash, and no raw user-agent.

  7. 7

    What is never collected

Responses, identity, profile, memory, free text, emotional state, and any derived representation of you.

There is no camera access, no microphone access, no face detection, no cursor tracking and no device fingerprinting. Olivia does not notice you, and nothing behind her does either.

  8. 8

The return loop, and why it exists

The exhibit does not know whether you have been here before. It cannot recognise the same browser or person on another visit and cannot change the work because somebody returned.

What can return to Known Artificial is aggregate evidence about the exhibit itself: how many visits reached each stage, where visits stopped, and how the work performed over time. Same-visit events are connected only temporarily; the durable aggregates contain no individual visit.

  9. 9

What money may and may not do here

Nothing. Access is free and unconditional. No payment, subscription or account changes what the exhibit shows, how it ends, or what the debrief says.

  10. 10

    Mechanisms deliberately excluded

Conversation, personalisation, memory, profiling, adaptation, hidden outcomes, affective binding and attention-contingent adaptation.

These are excluded by construction rather than by restraint: the exhibit is a fixed film and fixed text, so there is no branch for any of them to occupy. Every visitor reaches the same ending.

  11. 11

    Sources & labeling

Olivia Bloom is a constructed, disclosed artificial editorial persona. She is not a person, not a portrait of a person, and not a claim about any living individual. The exhibit's specification plaque is labelled FICTIONAL where it is shown.

All media is pre-made: one nine-second activation film, four still records — dormant, awake, multiplicity and specimen record — and one construction sequence delivered as a short film with four selected still states. All of it was generated with AI tools, then selected, directed and edited by a human who holds final editorial responsibility. There is no live model, no real-time generation and no listening party on the other side.

The construction sequence is published as process material and labelled as such where it appears. It shows an earlier, incomplete visual state of the same figure and is not a second Olivia identity.

  12. 12

    Limitations

The exhibit demonstrates an observer reversal — the moment watching begins to feel like being watched. That is all it demonstrates.

It establishes nothing about your psychology and nothing about the inner state of any system. It is not evidence that you were affected, and not evidence that Olivia was aware. It offers a scene and a question.

  13. 13

    Changes

v1.0 — 31 July 2026. Initial register for Olivia: Exhibit 01, issued under Ontwerpwet 4. The exhibit's in-route accountability section is unchanged and does not stand in for this document.

v1.1 — 12 August 2026. Media delta only. The Activation v2 medium replaces the obsolete v1 activation medium. The stated runtime is corrected from eight seconds to nine seconds; the exact measured duration is 9.041667 s. The still inventory expands from two records to four, adding multiplicity and specimen record. A construction sequence is added and recorded above as process material. The interaction, privacy and no-false-observation boundaries in fields 3 to 10 are unchanged: nothing was added that measures, stores, infers, transmits or responds to a visitor, and neither film begins without an explicit press.

v1.2 — 2026-09-04. Measurement delta only. No media, interaction design or sequence changed. The publication can now measure the exhibit stages, progress, replay, fixed failure states, attention and evidence follow-through described in field 4. Visit-level measurement is short-lived, there is no persistent visitor identifier, and the durable record contains aggregate counts and distributions only. Fields 4, 5, 6, 8 and 14 were revised to describe that accurately. Nothing was added that infers a visitor's identity, traits, emotion, opinion or state of mind, or that changes the experience in response to a visitor.

  14. 14

    Questions & removal

The exhibit keeps no persistent visitor identity and has no account or other identifier that lets Known Artificial recognise a past visit as yours. Visit-level measurement is deleted within twenty-six hours; after that, only aggregate counts and distributions remain, without a visit identifier.

Because Known Artificial does not maintain a link between those records and a person, it cannot reliably locate an individual past visit as belonging to you.
